Description: An 8VSB modulator capable of generating a low-level digital television signal in the UHF broadcast spectrum (470-806Mhz), conforming to the ATSC standard. Coverage of HAM radio frequencies in the area of 420-450Mhz would also be targeted. PC-based solution without MPEG-2 encoding capability. Requires either a live or disk-based, compliant transport stream which would then be ATSC encoded and sent to the modulator via a USB connection. ATSC stream rates are limited to 19.4Mb/s and can contain any valid program multiplex (e.g. single high data rate HD program, multiple lower rate SD programs or a combination of the 2). Software API targeting standard DirectShow interfaces. Relatively inexpensive solution compared to the $1,500+ professional units currently available.*

Current Status: A working prototype had been previously developed. Currently generates a fixed frequency output on channel 14 only. Actual product targets the addition of a frequency agile synthesizer.
