Online User Manual:  R5000-HD DVR

Basic Setup
The default settings will work for most applications. However, there are a couple settings that must be set correctly for proper operation. From the menu, select "Options"->"Preferences" to open the user preferences dialog:

In the "Service / STB" area, pick your service provider and STB model from the drop-down lists. Although the R5000-HD will make recordings even if the wrong service provider is selected, the streams will most likely develop errors or may even stop completely. The "STB Model" setting is less important, but must be properly selected for the remote control to work and to make PVR initiated recordings.

Select a File naming Option. If "Auto-Generate" is not selected, you will be prompted for a filename when you exit this dialog. Be careful when choosing the setting shown here since the same file will be recorded over each time. If you don't use auto-generate, it is recommended that "Auo-Increment" is enabled.

Version 2.0 adds the capability to record to D-VHS tape. The additional "Record To:" pull-down lets the user select the destination media for the recording (Disk, Tape or both).

The other settings will be discussed under "Advanced". For now leave them set to their defaults.

C-Band Users have an additional option appear giving them a programmable timer. This is inserted after sending the satellite code, giving the dish time to re-position itself before the channel command can be sent out. This only applied to PVR initiated recordings.
