Online User Manual:  R5000-HD DVR

Basic Usage
The R5000-HD is launched in the usual fashion, either via the start menu or from the desktop icon. The PVR helper application will also launch the R5000-HD DVR in the event that it needs to initiate a recording (more in the PVR manual). The R5000-HD can be terminated from the main menu: "File"->"Exit".

When not needed, the R5000-HD can be minimized to reside in the system tray. The icon can take on 3 forms: 1)  Ready/Standby (no recording in progress). In this state the icon is black and gray. 2) Recording in progress. The Icon turns red. 3) USB device unplugged/USB error. The icon will have a red "X" through it.

The tray icon also has its own menu, accessible by right-clicking on it. From this menu, the user can terminate the application, start or stop a recording or open the main dialog.

PC Standby/Hibernation: The R5000-HD does not have to be terminated/restarted when the PC is put into/taken out of standby or hibernate mode. Starting with PVR ver. 1.3, it has the capability to wake the PC from hibernation or standby mode to start a recording. For instance, if an event is scheduled to be recorded while the PC is in standby/hibernate mode, the PC will be woken up, the DVR launched and the program recorded. However, STB initiated events (STB sends out a record command) while in standby/hibernate mode will be ignored.

Files used by the R5000-HD: There are 3 other files used regularly by the R5000-HD. They include 2 log files (see section on "Logs") and a configuration file that stores all user preferences. The configuration file, "[serial number].cfg", resides in the installation directory (usually c:\Program Files\R5000HD) and is text format, human-readable. In the event it is deleted or renamed, the R5000-HD will create a new configuration file with default settings. You will have to re-enter your file save path and other preferences.
