Supplement - Program mappings
With the addition of stream capturing
from Motorola Digicipher based sources (StarChoice, 4DTV C-band), it maybe necessary for the DVR to learn program
mappings for certain channels. If more than 1 program is available for a
particular stream, the R5000-HD will attempt to find the correct program
automatically. If it cannot make the determination, the user must
manually program it to learn the correct program for a particular
channel.

Upon
pressing the record button or activating the preview window, the
dialog to the left maybe displayed. Enter in the channel that
your receiver is currently tuned to and press "OK".
The checkbox forces any existing information for this channel to
be updated, for example, if the current program mapping is known
to be incorrect.
Note that this dialog will not be
displayed when a recording is initiated via the PVR since the
channel is already known. It is not recommended that PVR events
be scheduled until the mappings are programmed in since
recording of the event cannot continue if multiple programs are
encountered.

Creating/Updating
Program Mappings
If a mapping is found, then the recording will precede as
intended and no further intervention is necessary. However, if
the above dialog is displayed it is more than likely that there
is no data available for this particular channel and the
additional steps below will have to be followed... |

| In
this case, there was no mapping found for channel 357. In order
to create one, you must start the preview mode to view the
various programs available and decide which one is correct for
this channel. The following dialog notifies the user that the
mapping must be created and supplies additional instructions. |

| After
viewing the preview window it should be obvious whether or not
the program matches the channel that the receiver is tuned to.
Stop the preview and answer the dialog accordingly. After the
correct program is found, answer "Yes" and a
confirmation box will appear with the new mapping information
that was saved or updated. |

From
the "Utilities" menu, selecting "View Program
Mappings" brings up a dialog similar to the one on the
left. The internal mappings are those that the DVR has
pre-programmed. "User added mappings" are those
learned through the above procedure. The default mappings cannot
be removed or modified except by creating a new mapping for the
particular channel. User mappings are stored in a file: "programs.map"
which is in binary format and not user editable.
If a program mapping is known to the DVR (shown in the list) the
user most likely will never be prompted to enter channel
information. If for any reason the mappings need to be updated
or changed, answer "Yes" to the Program Mappings
dialog. The create/update program mapping procedure will begin
the next time the preview mode is started. |
