Setup - MCE
Next, to install the R5000-HD
"tuner" within Media Center, follow the steps under
Settings->TV->"Set Up TV Signal." Click "Next"
to begin setting up the tuner (the R5000-HD does not need to be
hooked up and the DVR app does not have to be running to complete
these
steps). Make sure your MCE remote/blaster hardware is connected to the
PC.

2. The region should default to United States. Always choose this
option. It shouldn't affect your TV guide selection options. If it does you
can try selecting a different region.
|
|
3. Always choose the manual option for setting up the TV signal...
|
|
4. Choose the appropriate type of signal, but do not choose "antenna."
You are in effect setting up Media Center for use with a set top box so
if you choose "Cable", make sure to respond "yes" in
the next step: "Do You Have a Set Top Box?"
|
|
5. After some churning, Media Center should show a picture to the right
and by default the S-Video input will be selected. The input selection
is virtual and it is not really important which one is selected. As long
as you get a picture everything is setup correctly. Note: The
R5000-HD and DVR app do not need to be running to complete this
step. In their absence, the driver will display a test pattern in the
screen below.
|
|
6. Continue through the Set Top Box IR blaster setup. Note that this is
not necessary for proper operation of the R5000-HD tuner. It is only
done to satisfy a Media Center requirement. At this time (May, 2008)
there is no way to bypass the external blaster requirement.
|
|
7. Once the tuner setup is complete you have the option to choose a
provider and download guide information. Since the R5000-HD is fully
integrated with Media Center (which believes it is controlling an
external set top box), you have the option to use any of the available
satellite or cable guides for a given region.
