Dish Network model ViP 622 DVR is now supported (4/5/06). Capture any live HD or SD content (see 211/411 for details). Cannot extract programs already recorded to the internal hard drive.

The newly released Dish 411and ViP 211 MPEG-4 receivers can now be modified with the R5000-HD. These units represents the latest in satellite receiver technology and are capable of receiving all current MPEG-2 offerings as well as the newly added "MPEG-4" (H.264) HD channels. Support for StarChoice,  Motorola Digital Cable & 4DTV boxes (Nov 17, 2005).
With the release of version 2.2, subscribers to services employing Motorola set top boxes can now use the R5000-HD. These include the Canadian DBS provider StarChoice, many cable services and 4DTV (C-Band). The modification is performed directly to the receiver or set top box and gives the user full DVR and PVR functionality. Recording of all HD and SD (digital only; cannot capture analog cable channels) material is possible. The version 2.2 DVR also adds support for recording all SD digital channels from 4DTV (C-band); either through direct modification of the 4DTV receiver (e.g. models 905, 920, 922) or modification of the HDD-200 external decoder. Cable services must use Motorola set top boxes, and only units that are non-5C enabled (no Firewire out, e.g. DTC2000 series) are eligible. More about cable modifications.

New Utilities released (Sept 20, 2005).
Two new utilities: "Disk2Tape" and "TSCutter" have been added to the R5000-HD software package (version 2.1). Disk2Tape is a simple to use utility for transferring disk-based transport stream files to D-VHS Tape. Many of the problems associated with this process have been eliminated by the use of the custom-designed source-packet creation filter incorporated in the R5000-HD DVR. Of particular interest is the ability to sense non-standard PCR PIDs and record compressed-mode (no filler packet) files to tape. more>

TSCutter
is a basic transport stream editing utility that processes blocks and cuts at the closest packet boundary (188 bytes). It does not cut on GOP or audio packet boundaries. To be used only with ISO 13818-1compliant MPEG2 transport stream files. more>

R5000-HD Version 2.0 Released (May 21, 2005).
The latest version of the R5000-HD DVR software adds major new features. Amongst them is the ability to record directly to D-VHS tape. No intermediate steps are required. Events can be scheduled in the usual manner using the PVR, etc., but now the user can specify, on an individual basis, where the program will be recorded to (D-VHS tape, Disk or both). Features improved D-VHS source packet creation -more.

DirecTV SD recording. The R5000-HD becomes the first and only DVR to record Standard Definition programming from DirecTV onto a PC HDD. The transport stream files can be converted to VOB (DVD ready) using the third party utility, Replex32.

Built-in Media Player. We've added the ability to preview the satellite stream in real time on your PC monitor. The player can also playback most other common media file types as well as D-VHS tapes.

Networked PVR. Our PVR can now be controlled from anywhere in the world via the internet. Running the PVR in server mode on a PC connected to the internet allows it to be controlled by a client-mode instance launched on a remote computer. The user can then view, add and delete programs, all remotely.

see the support->downloads area for latest beta software releases

DirectX version 9.0 (or newer) required for D-VHS and Media player functionality. IEEE1394 (Firewire) port required for D-VHS tape.
