Introducing the Nextcom R5000-HD, the first glitch free, all digital HDTV recording system for Dish Network, DirecTV, Bell ExpressVu, StarChoice, C-Band, Motorola Digital Cable and ATSC Digital Television (DTV). The R5000-HD produces fully compliant transport streams playable with any MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 compatible decoder. A full-featured PVR is included which provides simple, one-click programming via TitanTV or Zap2it* interactive Electronic Program Guides (EPG). TitanTV users can also use the "Remote Schedule" feature to program recordings wherever Internet access is available (free TitanTV account required).*

Media Center Compatibility

Newly developed software allows simultaneous capture of up to 4 HD programs on a single PC! Previously users were limited to recording from a single source at a time. This DVR version will open up multiple instances (up to the number of devices connected to the PC, or a maximum of 4) allowing completely independent usage and control of each tuner. Download

Description
The R5000-HD is a Windows (XP/Vista/Win 7, 32 and 64 bit versions) based HDTV recording system installed in your set top box (STB) and connected to your PC via USB 2.0. Recorded programs are archived directly to any hard drive or pushed out to D-VHS Tape (or both, simultaneously). The R5000-HD is compatible with Dish Network, DirecTV, Bell ExpressVu, C-Band (4DVT), StarChoice, Motorola cable systems, and DTV. An easy to use PVR application is included which allows timed recordings, programmed via on-line interactive guides (TitanTV and Zap2it*). The recorder can also be controlled from the STB VCR control timers (where available). Playback is accomplished with either hardware: MyHD, Roku, Popcorn Hour, etc. or software: VLC, Elecard, Divco, etc. (Not included). Professional installation in your existing STB is included with purchase. Pre-modified STBs are also available (subject to availability).

The software package also includes the utilities "TSCutter" and "Disk2Tape". TSCutter is a basic transport stream file editor and Disk2Tape provides glitch-free transfers of disk-based recordings to D-VHS tape. Details.

A basic media player is available which can be used for live preview of the incoming satellite or cable signal on your PC. It also has the ability to use external decoders connected via Firewire (e.g. JVC 30000, etc). Live or disk-based streams can be directed to the Firewire port for viewing via an external MPEG decoder or interfacing with other equipment.

Dish 6000, Dish 411, ViP 211 and ViP 622/722 DVR: Records all HD and SD channels plus DTV. "MPEG-4 (AVC/H.264) Ready". Note: Can only capture live transmissions from the DVRs. Extraction (capturing programs from the internal drive) is not possible. ViP 222 not supported, "K" version receivers not supported (e.g. 211K)	RCA DTC100 ProScan PSH-D105 Hughes HIRD-E86, HIRD-E8 (Platinum HD) Toshiba DST-3000 Mitsubishi SR-HD5 Philips DSHD800 (Records all HD and now all SD channels from DirecTV and DTV). MPEG-4 models H10 and H20 are not supported
Bell ExpressVu: (All HD, SD channels and DTV if available)
Bell 6000 (Also records SDTV MPEG2 ExpressVU channels). Bell 9242 "MPEG-4 Ready" Extraction (capturing programs from the internal drive) is not possible.
*C-Band:* (All HD and SD channels)
HDD-200 & HDD-1000 used for 4DTV and StarChoice (Note: full PVR capabilities may not be available depending on receiver make and model -may require manually switching satellites). Supported receivers include Motorola/GI 905, 920 & 922. StarChoice DSR series. Motorola/GI 905, 920 & 922 The R5000-HD modification can now be performed directly to 4DTV receivers themselves. Allows capture of all HD and SD channels.
*StarChoice:* (All HD and SD channels)
DSR series Direct modification of all Motorola "DSR" series receivers used for the StarChoice service. Captures all HD and SD channels.
*Motorola Digital Cable:* (All HD and SD channels)
All Motorola DCT series without Firewire ports Motorola non-5C enabled cable boxes (includes all 2000 series the DCP501, some 5200 and 6200 HD units) as used by many major cable providers (Comcast, Charter, Verizon, etc). *Note: any box that does not* have a Firewire (IEEE1394) port (does not employ 5C copy protection) can be modified.** more

Technical Details
Writes standard, ISO 13818-1 MPEG-2 transport streams (tested to be fully compatible with MPEG2 decoders such as MyHD, Roku, JVC 30000, JVC 40000, etc). Configurable output bit rate allows transport streams to be NULL stripped, or other rates. No difference in compatibility (playability) of transport streams recorded on any of the supported STBs. Integrated IR sender/receiver allows PC to control STB and the R5000-HD to respond to STB VCR record commands (no external blasters or receivers required).
