beta
versions
HDD-200
users: All modifications shipped after 8/15/2005 must use version
2.2 or above. The new version software fully supports the legacy (HD only)
modifications but adds full HD and SD capture ability when used with the
new HDD-200 modification. Additional
instructions for creating program mappings has been added to the user
manual, available here>
The R5000-HD is
freely downloadable as a self-installing executable. It is highly
recommended that you read the installation notes (readme.txt)
first.
Note on updating: Easiest method is to download and
execute the latest full version installer. It will only update those files
that have been changed or added. For those of you who just need to update
the application, download the zip file containing the latest version of
the app and substitute it for the current version in your "r5000hd"
install folder.
Special
versions:
(Additional fees apply) Download the
desired version. After
purchasing, please e-mail the serial numbers of all owned* R5000-HD
devices to technical support so
the appropriate key(s) can then be issued.
| Windows Media Center
(MCE) support: The "MCE" version includes a 30 day trial. Do not attempt to re-install the
MCE version or your trial period will most likely be ended. For
instructions on how to uninstall or re-register any of the components
individually please contact us at: r5000support@nextcomwireless.com
Supported STBs: All
currently supported R5000-HD devices are useable with the MCE
version software. However, the 6000 series boxes (From Dish and
Bell) have not been tested and are not officially supported. These
boxes are being phased out by their providers and it is
recommended that owners upgrade to the newer units. |

*Multiple
keys only issued to original owner. Note that while only one device/key
combination is required to use the software, it must be connected to the
PC while the DVR is in operation. For example, if you own 2 devices with
serial numbers 100123X and 100456Yand a key is only requested for 100123X,
then 100123X MUST be connected for the software to operate.

R5000-HD
DVR ver. 3.0c Release: This update adds the following features
and fixes:
|
- Major release - Windows Media
Center now supported with new special version
- Support for BEV 9242 MPEG-4 DVR
- Dedicated setting for DCP501
cable tuner (differing "power" command from 2000
series)
- Ensures cable streams are fully
parsed out for active programs
- Rev. "c" -
Changes/additions to logging: all entries are time-stamped,
more detailed logging added for SageTV related events. DVR no
longer halts on file open/write errors (logs them).
Special Options
- Can enable Sage event logging to
troubleshoot problems using the DVR with SageTV
Add the following token to the DVR configuration file, after the last
entry but before "end":
Other: SageDebugFile
This will create a log of Sage-related events in the file "SageLog.txt"
in the R5000-HD install directory
- User definable channel digit delay.
To define a larger or smaller delay between channel digits (the
default is 500mS) add the following entry to the configuration file:
Other: DigitDelay=250
This example changes the delay to 250mS, substitute the desired delay
in mS (1000 = 1 sec). If already enabling the Sage event log, place
the value on the same line separated by a space:
Other: SageDebugFile DigitDelay=250
- Programmable IR
"pre-code" option - Adding the token "PreCode:" to
the configuration file allows a programmable sequence of codes to be
sent to the STB before a PVR channel change is initiated. This is
helpful for receivers that may need additional commands to "wake
up", etc. The format is:
PreCode: <IRcode0> <delay> <IRcode1> <delay>,
etc.
where "IRcode" is any of the IR code tokens defined in the
command line guide. The delay value is set in mS (1000 = 1 second).
Use spaces to separate all tokens.

Known
issues:
-
see
previous versions
MCE
Version:
- When playing back content with AC-3
audio the seek bar will not be scaled properly and the duration will
not be accurate.
- Media Center occasionally decides to
stop sending notifications related to record events. This will affect
simultaneously recording transport streams along side Media Center
recordings -they will not start. Seems to be related to
standby/hibernation. Has not shown up on VMC (Vista Media Center).
- Media Center may report that it cannot
play live TV because of a temporary disk error. Seems to only occur
when the shell is restarted for AC-3 content. The solution is to exit
Media Center and use the "services" utility from the DVR
tray menu to stop the receiver service.
