The R5000-HD is freely downloadable as a self-installing executable. It is highly recommended that you read the installation notes (readme.txt) first. Note: starting with version 3.1c, hardware installation is now a "run first" install, e.g. run the installer then attach your hardware.

Windows Installations packages. Download the correct version for your OS (Windows 2000 is supported via the XP package and Win 7 is supported via the Vista package). Use for first time installations and upgrades. Note: any versions that include a trial period cannot be re-installed or the trial will end. Please contact support first to resolve any issues.

SageTV Media Center users Please read additional setup and installation instructions:  SageTV

Individual Files. Version 3.1d cannot be updated by the substitution of individual files without first running the appropriate installation package. This is because a new driver is required. The version 3.1d DVR will not work with previous drivers (and visa-versa).

*Multiple keys only issued to original owner. Note that while only one device/key combination is required to use the software, it must be connected to the PC while the DVR is in operation. For example, if you own 2 devices with serial numbers 100123X and 100456Yand a key is only requested for 100123X, then 100123X MUST be connected for the software to operate.

• Designed to support both 32 and 64-bit drivers. 

• Configuration files eliminated; all settings are stored to registry. 

• All "tweaks" are easily accessible via user interface. 

• Record logging files eliminated (information about recordings is accessed via Utility->"Log Viewer" menu). 

• Fast channel switching for media center applications like SageTV. 

• Media player is no longer integrated with DVR application. 

• Redesigned and streamlined multi tuner version with tabbed device selection. Hides multiple instances but retains reliability of running a separate application for each tuner (a crash on one tuner will not affect the other devices).

• Auto startup and restart options. Boot startup option for DVR. Auto restart in the event of abnormal program termination.
  
  3.1d release notes: Addresses, fixes the following: New versions of SageTV can drop/re-establish network connection periodically. This previously could cause the DVR app to close out a recording in progress because it appeared that the media center had terminated. Multi tuner SageTV setups - previously the DVR would sometimes report (erroneously) that a port assignment was already in use. Tray status messages for other instances not being fully updated until actually switching to that window. Multi-tuner: switching between instances could sometimes result in the new window not being properly restored (minimized or not top level). A single "post code" IR entry can now be added to the channel string by entering "post=<ir code>" in the Pre-code box. Tested with new Windows 7 - no changes.
  
  NOTE: D-VHS support was temporarily broke in the basic version of 3.1d. Users who downloaded the install package prior to Jan. 7, 2010 should update their setup (DVR becomes v3.1d, build 2, Disk2Tape is now v1.2).
  
  Build 5 (5/24/2010) Fixes no stream parse on new Dish H.264 channels using "High Profile". These
  channels defaulted to MPEG-2 after failing to parse the correct stream parameters.

Beta Versions:

General Note: All files are "drop-in" replacements for the previous versions. Re-installation is not necessary unless explicitly called for. Download and unzip the desired file. Then open the folder where the R5000-HD software was originally installed (default is c:\Program Files\r5000hd). Cut and paste the DVR and PVR applications into this directory. "Disk2Tape" and other utilities belong in the "utils" folder.
