HDD-200 users: All modifications shipped after 8/15/2005 must use version 2.2 or above. The new version software fully supports the legacy (HD only) modifications but adds full HD and SD capture ability when used with the new HDD-200 modification. Additional instructions for creating program mappings has been added to the user manual, available here>

The R5000-HD is freely downloadable as a self-installing executable. It is highly recommended that you read the installation notes (readme.txt) first.

Note on updating: Easiest method is to download and execute the latest full version installer. It will only update those files that have been changed or added. For those of you who just need to update the application, download the zip file containing the latest version of the app and substitute it for the current version in your "r5000hd" install folder.

R5000-HD DVR ver. 3.0 Release: This update adds the following features and fixes:

  • Support for BEV 9242 MPEG-4 DVR
  • Dedicated setting for DCP501 cable tuner (differing "power" command from 2000 series)
  • Ensures cable streams are fully parsed out for active programs

    Version 2.5f
  • Fixes incorrect stream identifications ("MPEG-2  0x0")
  • Handles stream restarts for PVR events differently (resends power up and sets channel; fixes incorrect path on restart).
  • Increases wait time for power up (reports of 211 STBs taking longer).

    Version 2.5d
  • Fixes H.264 resolutions intermittently reported as "0x0"
  • Increases number of streams to properly handle high-density cable channels
  • Includes most channel mappings for FIOS scable systems.
  • DirectShow Options: choose MPEG-2 decoder used for preview chain.
  • SageTV options - Adds "4DTV surf mode" Disables satellite code (unless new) while channel surfing. Lower delay times. SageTV recordings can be made with "ts" extension (but SageTV may not recognize them).
  • Programmable IR "pre-code" option - Adding the token "PreCode:" to the configuration file allows a programmable sequence of codes to be sent to the STB before a PVR channel change is initiated. This is helpful for receivers that may need additional commands to "wake up", etc. The format is:

    PreCode: <IRcode0> <delay> <IRcode1> <delay>, etc.

where "IRcode" is any of the IR code tokens defined in the command line guide. The delay value is set in mS (1000 = 1 second). Use spaces to separate all tokens.
  • Improved IR reliability for Motorola cable boxes.
  • Addresses multi-instance DVR authentication problems while another recording is in progress.
Addresses problems with new Dish receiver OTA capture and H.264/MPEG-2 falsing.

    Version 2.4f:
  • Support for SageTV: "Network Encoder" server added for seamless integration with SageTV.
  • Multi-Instance Support: Multiple DVRs can be launched (for each tuner device) and simultaneous recordings made. Up to 4 DVRs can run simultaneously and record full HD streams using very modest PC requirements (1.8G Celeron, 512MB system memory).
  • Revised Disk2Tape: Version 1.1 increases number of entries to 100 and is required for proper operation with multi-instance DVR version.
  • Note: version 2.4d corrects problem of D-VHS recordings not starting.
  • Note: version 2.4e corrects H.264 stream header sometimes improperly labeled as "MEP-2" (Check using TSReader).
  • Note: version 2.4f corrects OTR not decrementing.

Known issues:

  1. see previous versions

R5000-HD PVR ver. 2.4b Release

  • Fully supports multi-instance DVR (multiple tuners for simultaneous recording). Adds conflict resolution for multi-tuner/simultaneous recordings. Automatically detects DVR type and handles scheduling conflicts accordingly.
  • Note: version 2.4b corrects problem whereby events can disappear from listbox when sorted (events with identical start times scheduled for multi-instance DVR).

Known issues:

  1. Client-mode PVR cannot return the available disk space or select a new record to folder on the server.

Beta Versions:

Version 2.5 DVR adds/addresses the following:

  • PVR beta addresses event loss while sorting columns and creation of multiple repeating events.

All files are "drop-in" replacements for the previous versions. There is no re-install necessary. Download and unzip the desired file. Then open the folder where the R5000-HD is installed (default is c:\Program Files\r5000hd). Cut and paste the DVR and PVR applications into this directory. The "Disk2Tape" utility belongs in the "utils" folder.
